Crocq:
Welcome to the crunchies
rocq was a fortified village built in the 12th century during the construction of the fortified castle.
It was part of a set of fortified sites which controlled the Clermont-Limoges road. The castle was razed by Richelieu in 1630 while the fortifications fell into ruins between the 15th century and the 18th century. Of the 12th century fortified castle, only two towers remain connected by a curtain wall. The fortifications included three rows of walls and ditches.
An orientation table has been installed on the towers.
Hiking trails are marked and the GR4 and GR33 pass through the town.
The Urbe dolmen is located at a place called Peire Levade.
The Creuse cake is a typical Creuse dessert made with butter and hazelnuts created in 1960 by Robert Langlade, pastry chef at Crocq.
